Ducati Streetfighter & Panigale V4/V4S & R Performance Upgrades & Servicing Melbourne

The Ducati Panigale and Ducati Streetfighter are two bikes we see a lot of in the workshop — and for good reason. They’ve got the unmistakable Ducati styling, loads of character, and a reputation for performance both on the road and on the track.

The Panigale, introduced in 2018, brought sharper electronics, updated styling, and that torquey V4 engine that’s made its mark in superbike racing worldwide. The Streetfighter shares that same DNA, with a more upright riding position and stripped-back attitude. Both models are brilliant machines, but like any high-performance bike, they come with their quirks. Here’s what we notice most often when working on them at Platinum Motorcycles Melbourne.

ECU Tuning – Smoother Power for Aussie Conditions

From the factory, these bikes tend to run a little hot and can feel rough at low RPM. Add an aftermarket exhaust or air filter, and the stock tune really starts to show its limits.

We’ve found that a custom ECU dyno tune makes a big difference. Using Woolich Racing software, we adjust the factory ECU to suit the bike and how it’s ridden. The benefits riders usually notice include:

  • Cooler operating temps in traffic

  • Smoother throttle response at low revs

  • Improved rideability across the rev range

  • Stronger torque and power where it matters

For riders who don’t want to go all-in on a dyno tune, we also offer a custom ECU software update. It’s a solid option if you just want the bike to run cooler and smoother in Australian conditions, without changing too much else.

Suspension – Dialled in for Rider Weight & Style

The Panigale and Streetfighter come with capable suspension, but out on Australian roads (and especially at the track) we’ve noticed a couple of things:

  • The front can feel too soft when pushed hard

  • The rear tends to feel harsh, particularly for heavier riders

If you’re around or over 85kg, the stock setup usually needs some attention.

At Platinum Motorcycles, we approach suspension setup in stages:

  • Basic setup: Using factory adjustments to suit lighter riders and road use.

  • Full suspension setup: New springs matched to rider weight, valving, internal setup, and geometry adjustment. This is our go-to for heavier riders, faster road use, or track days.

Getting the suspension properly set up transforms the way these bikes handle — making them more predictable, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring.

Servicing – Keeping Your Ducati in Check

Ducatis reward regular, proper servicing. With the Panigale V4, the service schedule looks like this:

  • 1,000km / 1 year: Break-in service

  • 12,000km / 1 year: General service (we recommend every 6,000km or annually in Australian conditions)

  • 24,000km: Desmo major service, including valve clearances

  • Brake fluid: Every 2 years, or more often for track use

At Platinum Motorcycles Melbourne, we’ve got the diagnostic tools to reset service indicators, clear codes, and carry out logbook servicing without affecting warranty.
